I got an email today which was obviously spam, but i was curious, so i preceeded in click the link it gave me in the body of the email.
The result in Firefox 2.0 was nice and helpful; It tells the user that this site is not to be trusted.

Firefox does detect

…however, this is the result in Internet Explorer 7, apparently with phishing guard was crap. I was able to enter information and even send over a non secure connection, all in a ‘modern’ browser that ‘protects from phishing attacks’.

IE doesn’t detect

Result? IE Baaaad, Firefox Gooood

Program in C: Character Sorting

This is the final program in my C part of my programming course, and involves using file IO, characters and arrays to sort a file, in.txt into two seperate files, one with just alphabetics – alpha.txt, the other with just non-alphabetic characters – nonalpha.txt.

I offer the program but you can get the source if you reply to this entry, or email to andy at microplop dot com.

Main executable

Sample text file

Instructions: place both practical9a.exe and in.txt in same folder and run the exe.

This program was able to process a 32Mb text file into alphabetics and non-alphabetics in just under 8 seconds on my machine, so it’s nice and optimised code!

Happy Sorting!

Bye bye FrontPage…

It has been announce that the crappy FrontPage program that has been bundled with office for an eternity, will not be continued in the latest version,.

Microsoft said: “After nine years of being an award-winning Web authoring tool, FrontPage will be discontinued in late 2006″

It has failed to impress individual website owners, in favour of blogs (like this one ;P ).
